ST. GEORGE – “From Pioneers to 100 Years” is the theme for the Dixie State College of Utah’s 2011 Homecoming Week, which runs Oct. 17-22, with a number of events in which both campus and Washington Counties communities are invited to participate.
One of the many Dixie Homecoming traditions is the annual parade, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, with line-up beginning at 9 a.m. for the parade, which begins at 10 a.m.
Again this year, DSC’s Homecoming Parade will follow a new route, traveling east on 100 South to 700 East, then turning right and finishing at Hansen Stadium, which is the site of DSC’s annual Homecoming Tailgate Party, starting at 11 a.m., followed by the kick-off of Dixie’s Homecoming football game vs. Central Washington at 1 p.m.
Last year DSC commemorated its Centennial Year with just over 100 parade entries, which made it the biggest Homecoming parade in school history. DSC officials are hopeful to eclipse that number of total entries in an effort to make this year’s parade the largest yet.
Individuals, businesses, and civic organizations wishing to place entries in the parade are asked to contact DSC director of student activities, Donna Stafford, at 435-652-7513, or by email at [email protected].
