ST. GEORGE – Starting Monday, the local sports scene will welcome a new personality to the radio waves.

Fresh from the glittering streets of Las Vegas, Patrick Blake will be hosting Blake’s Take on Local Sports on Fox News 1450 AM and 96.7 FM beginning Oct. 10. Blake’s Take will be on the air from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Blake’s name may be familiar with some readers, as he is also a sports writer for St. George News.

As the name implies, Blake’s Take on Local Sports will be primarily focused on local athletic competitions. Blake said that everything from middle schools sports to Dixie State College will be covered. Sports at the regional and state level, such as BYU and Utah State, will also be featured.

The show will have everything to do with local sports, Blake said, but the emphasis will be on getting exposure for the athletes involved, particularly those competing at the middle school and high school level.

Whatever the season, be it football or basketball, coaches from the local schools will be heard on Blake’s Take.

“We’ll get a season preview and each week hit that coach [for information],” Blake said.

Local athletes will be featured on a regular basis.

Though he recently moved from Las Vegas, Blake is familiar with St. George, having previously attended Dixie Middle School and Dixie High School. He said he’s is happy to be back in the area.

“I like it,” he said. “It’s a good place to raise a kid.”

While in Las Vegas, Blake ran a summer basketball camp called 247 Hoops. In the last four years, the program has propelled 44 players to various colleges like Dixie State College, BYU, University of Florida and University of Louisville.

Blake has plans to bring the 247 Hoops program to the streets of St. George.
