ST. GEORGE – Western Oregon scored on the first play from scrimmage, and never looked back. The Wolves defeated Dixie State College 56-0 on Saturday in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
DSC dropped to 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in the GNAC.
The Wolves amassed 497 yards of total offense to win their third straight GNAC game (3-1, 3-0).
The Red Storm offense never established a rhythm thanks to constant pressure from the Wolves’ defense. Sophomore Cody Stevenson and freshman Stefan Cantwell combined to connect on 12-of-30 passes for 132 yards with three interceptions. On the other side of the field, WOU’s Evan Mozzochi threw for four touchdowns and 267 yards. Trevor Gates made seven catches for 163 yards, including a pair of scores. Defensively, Paul Stevenson and Jake Duncan each had five tackles. P. Stevenson joined Ray Chapman with an interception apiece.
Dixie State travels to Humboldt State next Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
When will DIxie have a competitive football team again? It’s hard to go watch a 56-0 rout.
