SOUTHERN UTAH – The Utah Republican Party will host its Women’s Leadership Summit on Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dixie Convention Center located at 1835 Convention Center Drive in St. George.
A similar event was held in Salt Lake City last year, and this year the political interest of Southern Utahans has brought the event to St. George.
“I think people’s political interest is at a very high level in [Southern Utah],” said Gail Neumann, chair of the planning committee. “And many of them are women.”
The event promises workshop sessions taught by successful women specializing in different areas of the political field. The workshop instructors include: Jennifer Scott who will discuss grassroots activism, Kitty Dunn who will discuss political consulting and Paige Marriott who will discuss political fundraising. This year’s keynote speaker is Sharon Day who is the Republican National Committee Co-Chairman, and the special guest speaker is National Committeewoman Enid Green Mickelson.
According to the press release distributed by The Utah Republican Party the summit is “… designed to help women increase their influence in politics whether it be at the grassroots level, campaign level, or as an elected official.”
Last year’s event held in Salt Lake City had more than 200 attendants. The organizers of the event in St. George are hoping for 70 to 100 people Neumann said.
