ST. GEORGE – A 12-year-old boy walked away from being hit by a car while riding his bike.

Emergency personnel responded to a call for an accident on the corner of 700 South and Bluff St. at 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Officer Stan Thompson of the St. George Police Department said that the driver was making a right turn and didn’t see the boy in time.  Despite being hit by the car, the boy was able to walk away from the incident unharmed.

The only damage done by the impact was to the front wheel of the boy’s bike, which sustained a minor bend in the spokes.

The boy’s mother said that the accident was a good reminder to both drivers and bicycle riders to pay more attention to traffic, especially with school back in session.

Thompson did not comment on whether or not the driver was cited for the accident.
