Thunder lights up Falcons

ST. GEORGE – The Desert Hills Thunder crushed the Canyon View Falcons 39-2 Friday night at Desert Hills High School.

Thunder quarterback Porter Harris wasted no time throwing a 91-yard bomb to Mike Needham on the third play of the game. The Thunder didn’t stop there, scoring five touchdowns in the first half.

Harris threw for 176 with the one touchdown pass, rushed for 77 yards, and scored another touchdown on the ground.

The Region’s leading rusher running back Mike Needham ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Needham also had 111 yards receiving and a touchdown.

The Region’s best defense only padded its stats more holding the Falcons to 2 points and only 139 yards of total offense.

The Desert Hills Thunder travel to Pine View High School to take on the Pine View Panthers Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will be very important for playoff position as both teams are projected to make it into the playoffs.

Canyon View has a home game Friday night against the Snow Canyon Warriors.
