WASHINGTON COUNTY – As a September desert storm crosses the region of Southern Utah, bringing rolls of dramatic thunder, striking bolts of lightning and episodes of more dramatic rain downpour than seen much this summer, it is either welcome or not depending on one’s viewpoint and has brought some impacts this evening.
St. George dispatch advises of two fires, one a brush fire in Leeds area to which fire responding units are in route as we publish (6 p.m.), and another having to do with a palm tree which caught fire and was extinguished quickly by fire department responders around 4 p.m. today.
Likely a result of the storm passing through, a storm drain is causing traffic problems around 700 South and Main Street in St. George. The storm drain flooded and crews are addressing the problem.
Power outages experienced currently are likely a result of the storm passing through but St. George News has no particulars to report at this time.
