Budget Woes Prompt Public Hearing for Busing Options in La Verkin

LA VERKIN – The La Verkin City Council is holding a public hearing to discuss an agreement between the city and the school district to bus students to Hurricane Middle School.

According to the city’s website, the city is paying $600 a month during the school year for the service, and budget constraints have forced the city council to look at all options.

The website states that the money comes from the General Fund and all expenditures from the General Fund are being looked at.

Currently, students who live within two miles of the school are not eligible for the school bus. The website does not say what other options the city is considering.

St. George News was unable to reach La Verkin Mayor Karl Wilson before this article was published.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, at 6 p.m.
