IVINS – A 23-year-old Ivins man was arrested late last night after firing a 22 handgun in city limits.

Sgt. Rich Rogers said an officer noticed the gunfire coming from a vehicle in the area of 400 West and Highway 91. When the officer approached the suspect in his police vehicle, the man allegedly drove off in what Rogers called a “slow pursuit.”

“He wasn’t driving fast but was unwilling to pull over,” Rogers said.

After a search of the vehicle, the suspect was arrested on drug possession and weapon charges, as well as evading and driving on a suspended license.

Rogers said he does not know what the man was shooting at, but there are no homes in the area.
