ST. GEORGE – A four-year-old boy drowned at his home this evening after helping clean leaves out of the family pool located on Shadow Point Drive.
Sgt. Scott Lemmon said the family uncovered the pool today and the boy was helping clean the leaves out of the shallow end of the pool. The family then went inside to prepare for a sibling’s birthday.
Lemmon said the family told police they thought the boy was playing upstairs. A teenage sister later found the boy laying face down in the pool. She called police at 7:12 p.m., as another teenage sister began performing CPR. A physician living nearby also helped perform CPR for seven minutes before the ambulance arrived.
The boy was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center where medical personnel were unable to revive him.
