Officers tase man who threatened co-workers after being fired

ST. GEORGE – Officers arrested a 43-year-old St. George man for threatening his co-workers last night after he was fired from Viracon.

Officer Johnny Heppler said the man was fired from his job the previous day, then returned to his former workplace around 8 p.m. yesterday evening. The man allegedly threatened harm to his co-workers and threatened to shoot one of them, though no weapon was found on him at the time of his arrest.

The man left before officers arrived and then returned again after officers had left, this time allegedly hitting a parked car in the parking lot. When officers returned a second time, the man had fled the scene, but another officer found him in the area and conducted a traffic stop.

Heppler said the man became aggressive and non compliant and officers tased him one time to subdue him. Officers then took him to Dixie Regional Medical Center, per protocol, before taking him to Purgatory.

The man allegedly threatened ER personnel and lunged at one of them while at the ER with officers.

He was booked and charged with simple assault, public intoxication, criminal trespassing, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, parking in a handicap spot and DUI.
