Go back in time with The Traditional Barber Shop

ST. GEORGE – If you’re up for some time travel and in need of a haircut, you will find yourself right at home in The Traditional Barbershop, located at 815 E. St George Blvd. Walking inside the shop, you will find antique pinball machines, posters, and photographs that take a person back to another time.

Dave Lefler and Chris Flaig are two “good ole boys” who, having deep roots running through Dixie, opened up the barbershop. It has the flare of a younger generation, but a deep “respect for the way the older generation did things,” said Lefler.

Lefler said he enjoys the older aspects of life, where there was a little more integrity and a bit more quality. He said they emulate this through their work and don’t rush through a haircut or a shave, but rather give service the same way it was done in a bygone era, taking time to talk and get to know customers.

“It’s kind of like Cheers, minus the booze,” said Lefler, with a grin. “We are dedicated to being barbers, we want everyone to  feel welcome from every walk of life, whether you’re getting an ethnic haircut or a military flat top, we want you to be able to come in here and know that you’re one of the regulars.”

“Customers enjoy coming here,” said Flaig.

Howard Staheli has been a regular for over a year and said he enjoys the friendly banter that goes on in the shop between the customers, Lefler and Flaig Hot Rods are a big topic that you will find tossed around at the shop.

“Thursday’s we have a hot rod cruise in and anyone is welcome to bring their hot rod, motor cycle, or whatever you may have,” Lefler said.

Jimmy Johns, located next door, usually donates a platter of sandwiches for the event.

You won’t find The Traditional Barbershop listed in the phonebook, Lefler said.

“We really rely on taking care of our customers and them, in turn, telling their friends, family and neighbors about us,” said Lefler.

To schedule your hot towel shave, or your haircut, call 435-632-8213. The location of the shop is on St. George Blvd, and is located between Jimmy Johns and Big O.
