ST. GEORGE – One local photographer is giving away a portrait package to a lucky family.
 
Cari Batty of Enchanted Images Photography is taking nominations for her “Pay It Forward” family portrait giveaway. Family or friends of a deserving family can email Batty to nominate the family for the portrait giveaway.
 
“I want people to nominate families that they feel are, perhaps, extraordinary, generous, or just need an extra something for the holidays,” Batty said. “Anything that makes them an amazing family and deserving of family portraits.”
 
Nomination emails will be edited to protect each family’s anonymity and then posted on Enchanted Images Photography’s Facebook page for people to read. Batty will have people vote on which story is most deserving.
 
“From there, I will offer to the family first before I post the winner,” Batty said. “That way, if it’s something the family’s not interested in or don’t have the time to do, I can offer it to the next family.”
 
Batty will provide her basic package to the winning family for free, which includes all unedited images and 10 edited images on a copyright CD. If the family is unable to afford prints of their portraits, Batty will exchange the edited images on CD for prints so that there is no out-of-pocket cost for the family.
 
Batty has been photographing for eight years, though she just recently began marketing and advertising. She does portraits for high school seniors, single people, engaged couples, weddings, parents with babies, full families, and even pets.
 
“I’ll be doing photos of my neighbor and her horse, so I do pets of all sizes,” Batty said.
 
Batty has done a family portrait giveaway once before, and has a special reason for doing it.
 
“I feel like family portraits are such an important thing for a family to have and for kids to cherish when they get older,” Batty said, “but a lot of families don’t have the chance to have them done.”
 
Seeing this lack, Batty is doing what she can to fill it.
 
“With the holidays coming up, I wanted to get into the theme of giving and to encourage my Facebook fans to think about what they can do for other families and for their community,” Batty said. “So I decided to do a family portrait giveaway because that’s something I can give to other people that’s, perhaps, unique or unusual.”
