Four arrested on drug charges

ST. GEORGE – Four Washington County residents were arrested last night on varies charges of possession of heroine and cocaine.

Lt. David Moss of the Washington County Drug and Task Force said a male and female were arrested on distribution charges and two males were arrested on charges of possession.

Moss received a call from Las Vegas Metro who had been investigating a drug deal in Las Vegas. They had arrested an alleged dealer in Las Vegas who had 17 grams, approximately $4,500, of heroine. Moss said Las Vegas had witnessed a vehicle with Utah plates making an alleged drug deal and notified Mesquite Police Department and St. George Police Department.

Both Mesquite and St. George began working together, Moss said. When the vehicle passed through Mesquite without stopping, they contacted St. George.

“Had they not stopped in St. George, we would have notified Iron County,” he said. “But they stopped in St. George at Exit 8 and we did a traffic stop.”

Moss said the call from Las Vegas Metro was enough reasonable suspension to pull the vehicle over. Officers found six grams of heroine and three grams of cocaine, all worth approximately $2,000.

While they were investigating three people in the vehicle, a fourth person called to allegedly buy drugs. They arrested the fourth person for the drugs he was allegedly buying, as well as for the drugs he had on him when he arrived, Moss said.
