Editor's Note: The Dixie Press reported earlier that Christopher Dane Zdunich was released from the hospital, as reported by Associated Press writer Oskar Garcia. Dixie Press has been unable to verify that report and we have since removed it from the story until we receive verification that Dane has been released. Friends are informing the Dixie Press that Dane was removed from the trauma unit, but not released from the hospital.

UPDATE: Dane was released from the hospital and will be back in St. George on Wednesday to begin working on his physical therapy.

LAS VEGAS – A blog set up by the family of lightning victims Alex Lambson, 17, and Christopher "Dane" Zdunich, 16,  said Dane has been walking several times a day and checking his Facebook, surprised by all the friend requests he has received.

His family wrote that Dane has been eating solid foods and watching his favorite DVDs. He's also ready to go home, but he continues to worry about Alex, Dane's family wrote.
 
"He is very concerned about him and feels bad that Alex isn't able to be more comfortable yet," the post said.

To help raise funds for the families there is a benefit concert scheduled Monday, October 18, at 7 p.m. at the Tuacahn Performing Arts Center. The concert is being organized by three Snow Canyon High School students, Mikelle Atkinson, Shalissa Fowles and Shauna Lowe, and will have various performances from solo artists to jazz bands with students representing Snow Canyon and Pine View High Schools.
 
At capacity Tuacahn can hold 2,000 people, which Kim Whitman, the drama director at Snow Canyon High School and overseer of the benefit concert said, she hopes they fill.
 
“We would really love to sell out of tickets,” Whitman said.
 
The tickets are currently being sold at Tuacahn Center for the Performing Arts, 1100 Tuacahn Drive, Ivins.
