DH knocked off North Sanpete 53-43 Saturday morning at the 2A/3A Preseason Preview at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
Josh Anderson, coming off an all-state football season, continued his strong start by scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jordan Hokanson tossed in 13 and added five assists and three steals as Desert Hills slowly pounded the Hawks into submission.
Next action for the Thunder, 2-0, is at the Ken Robinson Classic at Dixie State Friday and Saturday against Logan and Springville. Tipoff Friday is at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Dixie 65, Stansbury 63 (OT)
Sophomore Cole Critchfield had a good look at the end of regulation for Dixie, but the shot caromed out.
The Flyers, 1-1, committed just six turnovers in the game and will return to southern Utah for a pair of games this week. Friday night, 7:30 p.m., Dixie will face Springville at Dixie State’s Burns Arena. Saturday the Flyers play Logan at DHS. Tipoff is at 2:15 p.m.
Morgan 66, Hurricane 42
Adam Massey had a pair of 3-pointers and Kaden Langston had eight points, but Hurricane managed just four points in the first quarter and trailed 25-14 at the half.
The defending state 3A champions shot just 31 percent from the floor over the weekend and made just 7 of 20 free throws Saturday.
The Tigers have just one game this coming week, a Saturday tilt at home against 2A Parowan.
Spanish Fork 65, Cedar 54
Cedar plays at Virgin Valley Wednesday night.
