ST. GEORGE – The clouds may have been threatening to rain Saturday morning, but that didn’t dampen the mood at the Snow Canyon Half Marathon, 5K, and Tuff Kids Races. Spirits were as high as the winds as half-marathon runners followed the 13.1 mile course that goes through Snow Canyon State Park and ends at Snow Canyon High School in St. George.

The half marathon was named one of the top in the nation by Runner’s World Magazine in 2014 and attracts runners from all over the country to run the mostly downhill, scenic course that winds through the park.

Around 2,000 runners showed up for the race.

I’m curious, did these runners have to fork over 5 bucks to get through the guard shack? And the water cup hander-outers? Can’t hardly see the $tate overlooking another revenue source.

I sure hope no one was caught dancing or celebrating at the end of the marathon because celebrating and dancing are illegal in St George

Who gets to clean up all the trash they threw all over the road and in the bushes?

I think there was a glitch in the programming code, Annoyed. Pardon the glitch, please, it’s not our aim to cause annoyance 🙂 I have reset it. Try again?

For once KOOLAID has something worth saying! That last picture thoroughly pisses me off. If they are going to act like pigs, they need to be confined to a sty to run their “races.” A few years ago I watched a bicyclist in one of our local “events” throw his cup in the street. A trash can was right beside him, but he ignored it. I told him to pick up his #### garbage, and he did, giving me a dirty look.
These people apparently think they are “special.” Well, yeah, apparently they are “special” all right. They are so arrogant they think the whole world revolves around them and their silly little “events.”
It is high time that our local governments discouraged, rather than encouraged all this crap. Why should people who have lived here all their lives, have to be inconvenienced for a bunch of spoiled, arrogant would be “athletes” that block traffic, interfere with our lives, and then trash the place on top of that.
Sure, they bring bucks into our local economy, but it is time we asked, “Is it worth it!”

Correction, not the last picture. The picture that shows all the trash laying around.

I ran both the cedar half and the snow canyon half. The snow canyon half was so well organized compared to cedar. Not bagging on cedar, just wanted to say great job to all the volunteers and everyone who made it possible.

With all the bright colors and weird outfits, it looks like a Gay Rights march. Maybe celebrating that same sex marriages are legal in Utah. More people appear to be marching than racing. If it’s a race, why are they marching and walking and chatting instead of running and actually racing to win a prize? These so-called races around St George are beginning to look more and more like clown festivals than actual races.
