GARFIELD COUNTY— Garfield Memorial Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for their new remodel and expansion of their long-term care unit expected to be completed by spring 2015.
Garfield Memorial Hospital Administrator Alberto Vasquez said he is grateful for the support of the county and community to get this remodel and expansion.
“We will be adding around 1,200 square feet of additional space for physical therapy and doubling the dining room and recreational area space, as well as installing new carpet, wall coverings and furnishings,” Vasquez said. “It’s been over 20 years since we’ve had an update and I love that we will be able to enhance the service to our long-term care residents with this new addition.”
Vasquez was joined by Garfield Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Manager Julie Bybee, GMH Hospital Board member Deon Alvey, GMH Foundation Chair Sue Barney, GMH Hospital Board member Art Cooper, GMH Hospital Board Chair and Garfield County Commissioner Leland Pollock, Garfield County Commissioner Dell LeFevre, GMH Board member Earl Slack, Garfield County Commissioner Clare Ramsay, GMH Board Member Lori Talbot, Long Term Care residents Dixie Shakespeare and Thelma Bybee, GMH Long Term Care nurse Jeanette Young, GMH Long Term Care resident Martha Henrie and Martha’s daughter Irma Henrie to kick off the expansion.
