ST. GEORGE – Segments of southbound Interstate 15 in Nevada have been washed out and destroyed by the flooding caused by Monday’s heavy rains. I-15 in Nevada is shut down from milepost 64 to milepost 112.

Officials told ABC 13 they expect I-15 to be shut down for three-to-four days.

The National Weather Service out of Las Vegas reported that 4 inches of rain fell on Moapa, Nevada, within the span of two hours. The resultant flooding not only took out parts of the Interstate highway, but also triggered a power outage throughout the area.

While northbound I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge, Arizona, has been reopened, along with Old Highway 91, southbound I-15 remains closed at the Arizona-Utah border.

Mesquite, Nevada, is also still without power Monday night, which may not be restored until sometime Tuesday.

For the time being, as of Monday night, road access to Las Vegas from Utah is unavailable.

According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, the following areas along I-15, along with U.S. Routes 93 and 95, remain shut down due to the flooding:

  • I-15 at mile marker 91 – near Moapa
  • I-15 at mile marker 92 – near Overton/Longdale
  • State Route 168 between Coyote Springs and Moapa
  • US 93 at mile markers 78-80 – south of Coyote Springs
  • US 93 at mile markers 54-60 – north of the Glendale junction
  • US 95 at mile marker 1 – Laughlin junction (traffic being diverted through Bullhead City, Arizona)

Beyond Las Vegas, I-15 also provides access to California, and is also a major transportation route for commercial trucking.

People will be whining about this for years…

  • MmmBacon September 9, 2014 at 5:08 am

Wow. This is historic. There will be an amazing push to get I-15 back up and going for the commercial traffic.

The wrath of God has been visited upon Bunkerville. He is trying to cleanse it of Clive Bundy’s cows. Repent and turn yourself in Mr. Bundy! Spare the town! Follow the example of Jonah!

  • Mean momma September 9, 2014 at 6:49 am

I blame Cliven Bundy for this mess!

    • proudtobeamerican September 9, 2014 at 3:52 pm

      BRRRAPPP! LOL!

  • Cliven's Cows September 9, 2014 at 9:08 am

I am one of Cliven’s cows. If you choose BLM and the federal government’s tyranny over Cliven’s right to have us graze on the lands his ancestors were granted, then you are part of the problem. You sit and say nothing as our constitution is eroded from every republican and democrat, term after term.

Our rights are in jeopardy and there is one rancher, ONE, in Clark County left: Cliven Bundy. Why? Because the federal government has controlled all land resources so no one can economically prosper unless they are politically connected to harry reid, obama, et al.

As one of the last remaining open range cows in Clark County, this disgusts me!

So, go on and cheer BLM, NSA, TSA, DHS, IRS, CIA, XYZLMNOP! Go on! THEY are our enemy. Not Cliven.

Did Cliven ever tap all of your phone and electronic communications? No.

Did Cliven ever touch your breasts, testicles, vagina, etc., as you tried to take a flight on Southwest Airlines? No.

Did Cliven target 501(c)3 groups? No.

Did Cliven poison blacks from the 1930s to the 1970s with the Tuskegee Experiments? No.

THAT’S YOUR GOVERNMENT SCREWING YOU, NOT CLIVEN! Cliven is fighting against this tyrannical government, not helping it put all of us in more bondage!

Damn, you are dumber than most of the cows along the Virgin River if you support the BLM and its fight against Cliven.

    BLM fights for tyranny.
    Cliven fights for liberty?
Is Cliven perfect? No. I don’t even know one cow that is perfect, do you? But, liberty and freedom are the goals….stay focused. moooooooo!

    Sincerely,

    Cow #127
    Bunkerville, NV 89007

You are a wiser cow than most American sheep-le today. I will vote “Cliven’scow #127 for President” this next election.
I know you will have a lot at steak, but plod on, and don’t moove aside just because of the uninformed herd mentality.
If someone has a beef with you, I’ll be there to help you grill them with more puns.

    • Mean Momma September 10, 2014 at 6:10 pm

That was a very MOOOOVING speech……. I still blame Cliven and NOW his cows for this mess

  • EL JEFE September 9, 2014 at 9:46 am

I don’t care who’s to blame for this mess. I’m just glad that I have stocked up on water and beans to last me several months. A note to the wise…..I also have stocked up on approx. 1 1/2 ton of ammo. So stay away!! Let it rain…..

    • Beefeater September 9, 2014 at 1:23 pm

Don’t worry, I’ll just eat burgers and kabobs after cow #127 gets processed, you can keep your pinto and navy beans all for yourself in peace.

  • Darth Dude September 9, 2014 at 11:01 am

1 and a half ton of ammo? No reason ammo is getting scarce.

  • Hoonjaba September 9, 2014 at 12:16 pm

The government made it rain… HA HA!

  • Whatthehell??? September 9, 2014 at 12:28 pm

Hahahaha! The comments…oh my sides hurt.

  • Usually Annoyed September 9, 2014 at 5:06 pm

I am usually annoyed at the ignorant judgmental comments on here, but today you guys made me laugh 🙂

  • WHATTHEHELL2 September 9, 2014 at 11:00 pm

oh my …! All of you need to GROW UP! I guess Mr. Bundy looked up to the Lord and said RAIN DOWN ON US AND CAUSE A BIG FLOOD. Gees. That’s all you people have to do is complain about something mother nature caused? Try getting out your shovels and help clean up the mess instead of bitch about people. I think complaining is easier for you.
    Ed. ellipsis.

You should listen to cow#127 he’s more right than he is wrong. America needs to wake up and not be one of the herd being led to slaughter
